Underwater Museum In Galle - Sri Lanka
Sri Lanka first underwater museum has opened 17 th June 2020 in
Galle Coastal area, the capital city of Southern Province of Sri Lanka. Galle
is one of the top tourist destinations of Sri Lanka.
This underwater museum project has been completely carried out
by Sri Lanka Naval Force under the guidance of Government of Sri Lanka.
Underwater museum Sri Lanka was declared open by the Commander of Sri Lanka
Navy, Vice Admiral Piyal De Silva. This underwater museum is the latest
addition of the museum collection of Sri Lanka.
Purposes of the Sri Lanka Underwater Museum
Primary objectives of the Sri Lanka Underwater
Museum are to develop the tourist attraction towards the country. Most
international travel journals have been declared Sri Lanka as one of the best
destinations in the world for travel. Being an island, Sri Lanka is having a
great opportunity to develop maritime based tourism development.
Also other important objective of this underwater
museum is to formation of artificial coral reef over the time while enhancing
the marine life of the Galle area.
